Stef Barrios Jones
Wine Sales Manager
Stef Barrios Jones’ passion for the restaurant industry developed through her years of working in her family’s restaurant business. Born in Venezuela and raised in Houston, Stef learned about food and wine from her father, a chef and sommelier. Early on, she came to appreciate the industry and built a foundation of passion and knowledge which now defines her career.
Stef officially began working in the industry in 1992 at her grandfather’s restaurant, Larry’s Mexican Restaurant, in a variety of roles. In 2002, she sought employment outside of the family and gained experience at restaurants in Houston including, Pappasitos, Colinas, Café Laurier and Sambuca, where she served as a head hostess, cocktail waitress and the assistant to the Public Relations Manager for 3 years. In Chicago, Stef worked at Bongo Room and Rhapsody, and in Indianapolis she spent time at P.F. Chang’s.
Stef began working with Lasco Enterprises, LLC, the parent company of MAX’s Wine Dive and The Tasting Room, in 2008 as a server at MAX’s Wine Dive. She took on various roles including administrator and training team member; she has been an integral part of the opening at every MAX’s Wine Dive since she has joined the team. Stef was promoted to Assistant General Manager at The Tasting Room CITYCENTRE and in late 2013 became The Tasting Room CITYCENTRE’s Wine Sales Manager. In December 2014, Stef was transferred over to MAX’s Wine Dive on Fairview to take over the Wine Sales Manager position as well. “I get to do everything I love. I love to teach. I love to learn. I love wine. I love pairing wine with food. I love learning from the never-ending knowledge of those around me.”
When Stef is not working, she likes to spend quality time with her husband, Seth, and their four furry companions. She loves to read about wine, cook, garden and go to live concerts. When she enjoys wine, you will always find her with a glass of bubbles or beautiful glass of Spanish red wine.
